The official opening of the Catholic school in Woodburn is a reminder of how far the riverside town has come in its recovery after the 2022 flood disaster. Principal Jeanette Wilkins gave an emotional speech at the blessing and dedication of St Joseph’s Primary School in Woodburn ... Governor-General Sam Mostyn officially declared the school open.

Students at Leitchville Preschool have a new art installation to admire, and it’s one they can be proud to say they have been a part of ... Tobie Cameron, a Kalkatungu man, was commissioned to paint the artwork, and visited the preschool to discuss the concept, design and process with students and staff, and to guide them through their involvement.

Coinciding with Cambooya Landcare’s annual general meeting at Felton Hall on Saturday, 9 November will be a free ‘Fossils on Farms’ Workshop and community barbecue ... Attendees will learn what fossils can be discovered in our area, what to look for, where to look and what the rules and rights are if you find something.

Both Barham and Deniliquin High School students attended Barham Lakes to complete revegetation work. Almost 200 terrestrial plants grown at Tulla Natives and many aquatic species transferred from within the local area were planted, assisted by Western Murray Land Improvement Group, Traditional Owners from the Moama Local Aboriginal Land Council, Deniliquin Landcare and volunteers.

TAFE NSW Hay has helped a former florist raised in suburban Bathurst make an unlikely career pivot to wool classing, as the spring shearing season hits full swing. Rebecca Owen, 35, was trained at TAFE NSW as a florist and an aged care assistantin-nursing in her 20s, before falling in love with the wool industry and moving to Hay.

The Independent Education Union – Queensland and Northern Territory Branch (IEU-QNT) supports the Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association (ICPA) as it calls on government for an urgent increase to the Basic Boarding Allowance to cover 55 per cent of boarding costs, as originally intended. IEU-QNT Branch Secretary Terry Burke said the increase was essential to ensuring equitable access to education for all children in rural and remote Australia.

Succulent Fest, hosted at Bunker’s Hill State School, is increasingly becoming a flagship event of the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, this year’s staging attracting over two thousand visitors and raising nearly $12,000. This year marked the sixth staging of the event, organised by group of volunteers under the P&C Association of the school.
