Local bowlers bowled over by Chinese hospitality
Barham's state-of-the-art bowls greens have drawn bowlers from all over the world in recent months, but at Christmas, it was our chance to export some. Four intrepid adventurers from the Barham Bowling Club, President Steve Wilson, Glenn Faul, Damien Paterson and Dave 'Harry' Potter competed on the world stage at the 2025 Tin Ding Sin China Lawn Bowls Open in Qiantang district, Hangzhou, China.

World Bowls commences!
Thirty-two nations from across the globe will compete for a world title in the men’s and women’s singles at the 2025 World Bowls Champion of Champions at cluBarham. An estimated 3,000 visitors will be in our twin towns for the prestigious international event, with 27 men and 30 women competing at cluBarham’s state-of-the-art bowling facility.
Harker makes Deni Classic finals
The Deniliquin Bowls Pairs Classic is a well-known annual lawn bowls tournament attracting players from all over Australia ... Harker and McArthur won their section and reached the first round of the knockout finals, but they were beaten by the eventual winners, Brad Orr and Mitch Sidebottom.
A showcase of young talent
CluBarham hosted the 2025 Murray Mallee Junior Triples Lawn Bowls Tournament last week on Wednesday and Thursday, attracting competitors from across the state. Despite the cold weather, a lively celebration of emerging talent, community spirit, and the sport of lawn bowls unfolded as 18 teams competed at the Riverdome.
Yamba hosts Bowls State Pennant Finals
Bowlers from across the state battled it out for glory on the greens at Yamba over the weekend in the Bowls NSW Grade 3 Open Pennant Final Series. Yamba Bowling Club Bowls Director Jayson Pinnock said the club played host to 240 male and female bowlers and their teams from the state’s top 16 Grade 3 clubs.
Nhill Bowls clinch thrilling premiership
Last Saturday at Horsham City Bowling Club the Nhill Bowling Club team Nhill Red (also known as Nhill 1) clinched a thrilling Wimmera Bowls Div. 1 pennant premiership when they defeated Horsham City by four shots (67-63).
Hot weather has an early impact
Last Tuesday’s hot weather conditions, with the mercury pushing 38 degrees (over 100 degrees Fahrenheit) by mid-afternoon, had an impact on the day’s midweek pennant games, with at least results being called early to protect player safety.
Arthurton Oval’s enduring appeal
Wilson McShane. Fifteen years after a turf pitch was established at Arthurton Oval, the venue has never looked better, says Arthurton curator Ross "Rosco" Atkinson. Before he took over as the oval’s curator, Rosco oversaw the Arthurton bowling green for 27 years; however, this has now been replaced with artificial turf.
Pig Lures wins Lyn Wright Memorial Shield
Bev O’Halloran. For the uninitiated Pig Lures is a team of pretty good bowlers at the Allora Sports Club. In fact they were good enough to win the season’s competition which wrapped up last week … Congratulations to Chris Brown, Moley and Beetle of Pig Lures on 21 who were season winners.
Bowls leaders consolidate
Completing the first full round of North Central Playing Area’s 2024-’25 pennant fixture, Division 1 leaders, Wedderburn and Donald Golf, confirmed their rankings with comfortable wins over St. Arnaud Country Club and Boort respectively … St. Arnaud Country Club remains outside of the top four, while cross town rival, St. Arnaud, which demolished Donald by 68 shots, strengthened its grip on third place.

With the bias
It was an intense few hours of bowling when Corryong took on the Commercial Club bowlers on their home turf in Albury on Saturday in the opening round of the Ovens & Murray weekend pennant competition. The visitors got off to a good start but once the Commercial bowlers got into their rhythm on a faster somewhat quirky pitch it was a game of catch up for the Corryong teams.
Bowls season opens
With a fresh coat of paint, the Maldon Bowls Club was looking spick and span last Sunday to celebrate the opening of the Pennant season. Bendigo West Member Maree Edwards was invited to send down the first ball, the Castlemaine Bowls Club was invited to enjoy a day of friendly competition and everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch.

B.Close. The Nhill Bowling Club conducted the annual H. Tink Electrical Winter tournament last Saturday, boasting excellent entries from Wimmera clubs. Sixty bowlers enjoyed some much-anticipated sunshine and an afternoon of fellowship in this popular casual tournament format.
