Doin’ it for DV: Stop it where it starts tour heads to Casino

Recent stories

And she’s off! Jeanette ‘Netty” Foy-Wilson left Kyogle on Monday morning, October 10 on her ride to the Gold Coast.

Supporter, Councillor Danielle Mulholland cut the official purple ribbon of Netty’s Stop it where it starts tour.

Netty’s supporters wore purple wigs and tutus as they began the journey. Trucks tooted as they drove by and Netty tooted back with a purple horn she’s taking with her on the trip. Netty is doing the trip as her alter-ego Gladys.

Her white dog Molly was on the mobility scooter with her and was still getting used to the sound of the horn, Netty said.

Jade Bennett from Kyogle Family Support Services said she had seen the effects of domestic violence on children’s wellbeing.

The Stop it where it starts tour aims to raise money to buy education courses for local schools to teach children about safe relationships.

When the tour gets to Casino, they will be met by Councillor Patrick Deegan who is on the Richmond Valley Domestic Violence committee. Then it’s on to Lismore.

Netty isn’t riding the scooter the whole way. The scooter will be on a trailer for parts of the journey.

If you would like to donate to the fundraiser for the education programs go here.

Ms Mulholland said they were “halfway there” in the fundraising.

If you need domestic violence support call Kyogle Family Support services on 6632 1044.
