Rangers and police are using drones to identify unauthorised vehicles involved in off-road activity in Two Rocks. WA Police said they have been assisting and would continue to assist in conducting proactive patrols ... using a police-issued drone.
Farmers targeted amid surging wave of brazen copper crime: TasFarmers
Tasmanian Farmers continue to be a target for thieves, with increasing reports of centre pivots being stripped of copper, from Northern Tasmania and the Southern Midlands. Ian Sauer President of TasFarmers said, the peak body has previously raised concerns about copper thefts from irrigation equipment in the Northern Midlands, however thieves are becoming more brazen, and the wave of crime is escalating.
Saltmarsh trail vandalised
The Whyalla community has faced a string of vandalism over the past few months, with recent acts targeting the hard work of numerous community organisations involved in creating self-guided, interactive saltmarsh trails at Eight Mile and Murrippi beaches … four of the seven information posts have been stolen … as well as the intersection sign for Murrippi road has been torn down.
Emergency response to record high prisoner numbers: NT
...prisoner numbers reached a record high of 2,370, placing significant pressure on facilities including Darwin Correctional Centre (DCC), Alice Springs Correctional Centre (ASCC), and police watch houses ... The Department engaged in consultations with the United Workers Union (UWU) regarding urgent proposals to temporarily vary the operating models for both Darwin and Alice Springs Correctional Centres as an emergency response.
The price of poverty

Those who work in the social service sector in Alice Springs, as I do, know this fact intimately: there is an incredible amount of money funding our response to a community who have incredibly little. Our system watches as desperate people stumble and waits for them to fall before extending a paternalistic hand or one gripped around a gavel.

Trial investigates ways to verify timber species and harvest origins: DAFF
The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has completed a timber testing trial investigating the best ways to implement technologies verifying claims of species and harvest origin of regulated timber and timber products ... Deputy Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Policy Matt Lowe said globally, it has been estimated that about 15-30 per cent of all wood traded is a product of illegal logging and illicit wood.
Watch out for livestock scams
Following the arrest of a man alleged to have scammed 12 buyers in South-East Queensland, police are urging the public to assess sellers diligently when purchasing livestock ... Police identified 12 buyers who deposited more than $7,500 to the alleged seller, who never delivered the animals or feed.
Gingin egg producers fined in Perth court
The operators of two chicken farms in the Shire of Gingin have been fined for mishandling waste at their egg farming operations in contravention of conditions imposed in an environmental protection notice issued by the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation. CCF Cocking Children Farms and CF Farms (formerly Snowdale Holdings) own two parcels of land in Beermullah, in the Shire of Gingin, on which commercial egg farming operations are conducted.
Lowering the age, ram raid and ‘posting and boasting’ laws pass: Finocchiaro, Maley
The CLP Government’s legislation to lower the age of criminal responsibility to 10, and introduce new ram raid, and posting and boasting laws, have been passed in Parliament ... The CLP Government said ignoring 10 and 11-year-olds who commit serious crimes was not the answer to turning around their lives, or protecting the wider community. Since 1 July, there have been more than 104 instances involving youths, aged 10 and 11, in the commission of offences in the Territory.

Over 14,000 Groom residents have joined their Member of Parliament Garth Hamilton in voicing their opposition to Federal Labor’s proposed misinformation laws. When the Government released its first Misinformation Bill last year, more than 20,000 people put in submissions and comments opposing it and it was subsequently withdrawn ... Labor has once again shown a lack of respect for Australians’ fundamental right to free speech.
NSW Fisheries Officers action over safety concerns
NSW Fisheries Officers have taken industrial action and are refusing to inspect commercial trawlers at night over safety concerns after several alleged violent incidents where they have been shot at, threatened with knives … The Public Service Association PSA which represents NSW Fisheries Officers said they are avoiding certain areas and individuals at the very time fears have emerged that crooks, poachers and organised criminals … have taken over the state’s rivers, oceans and estuaries and are now plundering valuable species like abalone and rock lobster.
Declan’s Law ready to be introduced to Parliament next week: Finocchiaro
The CLP Government will deliver on its promise to introduce Declan’s Law in the first sittings of Parliament, commencing next Tuesday. Under Declan’s Law, Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro said there would be a presumption against bail for youth and adult serious violent offenders, regardless of whether a weapon is involved.

Devastatingly, new data from domestic violence support charity shows demand for help is showing no signs of slowing down, with a 29 per cent increase in people helped by their services since this time last year. In this digitally dependent society, sadly technology is often used to control and manipulate victims of domestic violence, with mobile phones commonly misused by perpetrators for tracking via spyware or location services.

After sustained calls from the community, the regional crime inquiry is finally set to take place in Kempsey this month. Michael Kemp, Member for Oxley, has been pushing for this critical inquiry, driven by the alarming surge in violent crime that has left families, businesses, and the entire community in fear. “This inquiry is long overdue, I’m relieved that Oxley will finally get the attention it deserves."

Helen’s water victory
Independent Member for Murray, Helen Dalton, says a new Water Register she has convinced the NSW Government to introduce will help stop money laundering as well as the secret purchase of Australian water by foreign governments. She introduced the bill to parliament late last year, with the aim to force NSW politicians to declare their water interests on our conflict-of-interest form.
Man illegally sold recreationally caught rock lobster
A Quinns Rocks man has had his fishing licence suspended and has been prohibited from being on any recreational fishing boat or possessing recreationally caught rock lobster for six months. When the 58-year-old man appeared in Joondalup Magistrates Court he was ordered to pay fines, penalties and costs totalling more than $19,000.
