Independent Review findings shared

At a Community Meeting in Carisbrook ... the findings and recommendations of the Carisbrook Levee Independent Review were shared with residents ... The report has found that overall, there is confidence in the catchment modelling to which the Levee has been built.

The Griffith region was the major corn (maize) producer in Australia in 2022-2023, according to data recently released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). The region supplied 80,000 tonne of corn.

Peak body lobbies for virtual fencing in NSW

Virtual fencing is a system that enables livestock of varying types to be confined or moved without using fixed fences, instead relying on collars, sensors and wireless technologies. The CSIRO started research and development (R&D) into virtual fencing in 2005. Animals are given an audio warning if they approach the perimeter and feel an electric pulse if they continue – one far lower than contacting an electric fence.

Sambrook selected for Australia Youth

Last Friday, North Coast football sensation Logan Sambrook received the phone call every kid dreams of. It was the coach of the Australian Youth Team, 'The Joeys,' inviting Sambrook to join the national team on their PacificAus tour against the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu Under-19 men's teams.

Council announces who will fix five landslips, replace two bridges and build a netball clubhouse on piers

Landslips, roads, bridges and a new clubhouse have had tenders announced by Richmond Valley Council so work can begin. Most of the projects are funded under Transport for NSW’s Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, except the Tatham bridges, which are being funded through the Australian Government’s Emergency Response Fund Northern Rivers Recovery and Resilience Program 2022-2023.

In its 114th  year Trundle will be host to a great range of inflatables (12pm to 4pm) for kids of all ages to enjoy and let’s not forget the gumboot throwing competition. The markets on the day will bring you everything from the latest showbags to locally made olive oil. Wednesday August 14 kicks off with Horses and Show jumping at 8.30am, pavilion from 9am and Kids zone with animal nursery from 10am.

Ben Hawke. The great Tomo peacefully weighed anchor from Mosman Bay for the final time early yesterday afternoon surrounded by his family at home. Born in Katowice Poland, he lived a grand life, sailed many miles, had many great adventures and brought inspiration and a positive light to all that graced his path.
