Dung data to help improve herbivore distribution maps
Detailed livestock models are important for land-use planning, disaster relief and food insecurity. Their new study, recently published in Nature Food, reveals a strong positive relationship between dung presence and grazing pressure, meaning the amount of dung found in a particular location could help us understand approximately how many herbivores live there.

Funding campaign gathers momentum
The Corryong Neighbourhood Centre (CNC) has thanked the community for its support for the ‘1000 Steps to Sustainability’ campaign to ensure its future. "We have raised just over $20,000 directly into the CNC account as at Wednesday lunchtime and will have details on UMIF donation account receipts when we receive the report at the end of the week," said CNC o-ordinator, Sara Jenkins.

Hindmarsh Shire Australia Day Awards 2025
Australia Day started early in Hindmarsh Shire on Sunday 26 January 2025, commencing with a BBQ breakfast in Rainbow at 7:30am provided by the Rainbow Lions Club, followed by ceremonies in Jeparit, Dimboola, and concluding in Nhill ... Bailee White of Nhill has been announced as the recipient of Hindmarsh Shire Young Citizen of the Year for 2025.

Earlier in the month, Jack Dodds and Lenny Shurdington represented the West Wimmera Warriors and played in the U13 HCA side at Country Week in Portland. The team won 3 of their 5 games, with narrow losses to the two Warrnambool teams.
