It's the start of the ‘Seal-ly season' on the Central Coast, says marine mammal specialist Ronny Ling. Mr Ling, of Marine Wildlife Rescue Central Coast, said winter doesn't highlight only the migration north of some whales; it also triggers some seals to head up the coast as well.

Terry Collins. In a landmark decision on June 18, the Federal Court dismissed Asset Energy's application to overturn the Federal Government's rejection of the controversial PEP 11 application. Petroleum Exploration Permit (PEP) 11 has long been a point of controversy, as it sought to pursue offshore petroleum exploration over a large expanse of the eastern coastline including the Central Coast.

In the wake of National Volunteer Week, Volunteering Central Coast says proposed Commonwealth funding changes could dismantle the local volunteer support infrastructure that has enabled volunteering on the Central Coast for more than 40 years. Established in 1985, Volunteering Central Coast currently supports more than 60 local community organisations and promotes about 170 volunteer roles, many of which require multiple volunteers to meet community need.

CCN publishes and distributes and amalgamated weekly masthead Coast Community News, with a total print run of over 27,000 papers each week, with 60,000 + readers each week. (Each paper is read by on average 2.2 people) plus digital flip book readers.

Contributions are welcome and are preferred in email form, ideally with any relevant photographs attached. Contributions must include the contributor’s name, address and phone number. This is not for publication but name and suburb will be published and anonymous contributions will not be included.
