Gym sharks after dark

As locations across Tasmania are being transformed into immersive art spaces for Mona Foma, an independent gym in Launceston is preparing to host world-class circus professionals for two adults-only evenings this week. Tasmanian circus company ROOKE will present DEKOOR in Method Plus Action gym, playfully exploring gym culture, training and voyeurism.
Gridlock over transmission lines
Confusion reigns amongst farmers and other landowners in southern Gippsland as the state government's new kid on the bloc, VicGrid, has pushed aside their negotiations with existing companies over the various transmission projects that will be built across the region under the government's renewable energy policy. This comes across the background of the blackouts caused by storms last week that brought down transmission lines and electricity poles that led to the closure of Loy Yang A power station.
Victorian and Tasmanian farmers call for fair land access rules: VFF, TasFarmers
The peak representative bodies for Tasmanian and Victorian farmers have joined forces to call for fair land access rules in the face of rapid renewable energy developments taking over prime agricultural land. TasFarmers and the VFF released the Farm Access Code of Conduct which is aimed at promoting respectful and sensible infrastructure development on agricultural land.

The Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA) is urgently calling for collaborative action between government and industry to swiftly implement solutions addressing ongoing breaches of the Animal Welfare Act. TFGA President Ian Sauer said farmers are keen to see immediate action through a partnership between the government and industry, which will result in swift and effective solutions.

CarbonNet pipeline stakeholder consultation
The landmark federal-state CarbonNet project, which aims to take carbon dioxide emissions from the Latrobe Valley and sequester them under Bass Strait, has got the go ahead for a vital part of the project – the plan to build a pipeline that will carry liquefied CO2 to the coast. The 100 kilometre-pipeline – 80km buried onshore and a further 20km offshore – will take liquefied CO2 to a carbon capture and storage hub at Golden Beach, creating a connection for multiple carbon capture projects.

Tasmanian Farmers reject new fire levy options as totally unfair and unacceptable: TFGA
Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA) says it cannot support the government's proposed Tasmanian Fire and Emergency Services fire levy funding models in their present form ... TFGA President, Ian Sauer said, “While we support the move toward a fairer, more efficient funding system with a single source of funding, in some instances we’re seeing farmers' contributions increase under one proposed model by a staggering 1000 per cent, and under the other model by at least 230 per cent in contributions, which is unacceptable and certainly not equitable.”
Fishing for the next generation: Palmer
The Tasmanian Government is taking action to secure the future of scalefish fishery for generations to come. Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Jo Palmer, announced new rules will come into effect for all commercial and recreational fishers from 1 November, 2023 following extensive consultation.
