Features of the Day:

  • Traditional areas of an agricultural show including horse jumping, wood chopping, home industries and cattle competition including the State Young Paraders at approx 1pm on Saturday.
  • The “Craggy Island” Highland cattle will be making the long trek to compete again after an absence of a few years and are always a highlight.
  • 40th anniversary of the Trade Cattle competition with “On the Hoof” happening at 10am Show Day; spectators welcome.
  • Wood chopping programme all day including tree felling competition and this year the Show is holding a State Title – Tasmanian Standing Block Championship 400mm at 12.45.
  • View the wonderful array of entries in the Circular Head Community Bank Exhibition Hall from vegetables to preserves, cooking, all types of craft, photography, lego and entries from local schools.
  • Visit the Animal Nursery with an array of animals to delight all ages. Little Henrietta (Angora goat kid) will be making her first appearance.
  • Burnie Highland Pipe Band will play prior to the Opening and again during the day.
  • Opening at 12 noon by President, Tony Hine and Felix Ellis MP. This is followed by the Country Showgirl and Boy competition sponsored by McCain Foods. Do not have to register. Can enter on the day; attire suitable dress for the day; no costumes.
  • Singer, Rino Morea, will be returning to entertain throughout the day.
  • Ritchie and his Edith Creek Working Bullocks are always a highlight. You will also be able to watch a working blacksmith.
  • Scott of North West Snake Catchers will be holding informative sessions throughout the day with his display of reptiles.
  • “Almost Heavenly Clydesdales”, Bonnie and Nuggett, will give rides in their wagonette.
  • Pearn’s Steam World, Westbury will be providing a scale model traction steam engine which will delight with short rides along with a Fairground mechanical organ.
  • Eddie Freeman and his amazing chainsaw sculptures.
  • Shearing demonstration will be held throughout the day with spinners who will be spinning the fleece direct from the sheep.
  • Sheep dog demonstrations – there will be three demonstrations held throughout the day. This is a first for the Circular Head Show for a lot of years.
  • The popular Dog High Jump will be held again with great prizes on offer.
  • Majik Feathers will delight with their collection of parrots.
  • There will be a goat and poultry display.
  • The Flowerdale Lobster Ponds will have a guest for the day.
  • Working models display by Damien Smith.
  • Lynden’s laser Tag will be holding free laser tag between 10.30 and 3.30.

It is always pleasing to welcome back the following displays:

  • The Veteran Car Club, the Historical Machinery Club and the NW Bird Club
  • Culmination of the day at 3pm – the Smithton & Districts Community Bank Grand Parade.

There will be the usual trade space stalls including agricultural displays, food stalls, handmade jewellery and soaps, craft stalls and the usual show items – fairy floss, show bags and rides/games!

Admission: Adults: $12, Children 5 -14 years: $5 and under 5’s Free. Gates open 7am
