Laura races, rodeo called off in 2021

There will be no Laura rodeo and races this year after both committees decided to pull the pin for a second straight year. Last year’s events were made impossible by the closure of Cape York to outsiders and this year’s event was abandoned as a result of strict COVID-19 rules.

Representing the biggest prizemoney offered in the history of the club, the three meetings comprising 20 races will be open to the public for the ­first time in a year.

Creation of Midway Races as part of prizemoney increases to $20 million

Racing NSW today announced prizemoney increases of some $20 million annually and the creation of a new $100,000 Midway Race to be added to metropolitan Saturday race meetings. This announcement is highlighted by almost $9 million of increases in prizemoney for country race meetings to be applied across all sectors of country racing including non-TAB and Picnic races.
