Day to remember for Milligan family at Port Macquarie
Following a training treble on the program and many winners owned by close family and friends, the Milligan training establishment was the dominant force at the Port Macquarie race meeting on Friday. With Bob’s experience and expertise as patriarch of the team and the operational guidance of son, Glen, the stable was successful in landing a treble with wins by Being Naughty, Hold all Tickets and Dr Demon.
Kerang racing
Kendall Jennings. I have never been so close to racing before, a privilege for owners, trainers and the media. Oh my, I was in for a treat, feeling like a kid at the lolly shop, eyes wide and smiles everywhere. I was treated to an all-area pass, and I made the most of it. I spoke to jockeys, trainers, owners and volunteers, absorbing as much as I could to learn more about horse racing—everything from horse earmuffs to shoes.
Prospero claims dramatic Easter Cup win at Port
Rod Fuller. A dashing ride from the tail of the field by Dylan Gibbons resulted in victory to Prospero in an action-packed Easter Cup at the Port Macquarie race meeting on Saturday. Gibbons was content to settle the Nathan Doyle trained gelding well behind the early leaders, Bay of Bengal and Za Za Zena, before making a move around the field down the side of the track.
Bourke’s picnic
Leeton jockey Breanna Bourke booted home the winner of the Nutrien Ag Solutions Ardlethan Cup, Let’s Get Animal, for trainer Maddi Collins on Saturday. This was her first ride back after 10 months on the sideline after having a fall ... more than 2000 racegoers attended the meeting to enjoy the racing and fashions on the field.
Rain causes Port Macquarie racing cancellation

Following a deluge of rain over the past few days and the promise of further heavy downpours on race day, Racing NSW Stewards had little alternative but to cancel the race meeting scheduled for Port Macquarie on Friday where the Lisa Sheppard trained Racketeering had been scheduled to run.
Laura races, rodeo called off in 2021
There will be no Laura rodeo and races this year after both committees decided to pull the pin for a second straight year. Last year’s events were made impossible by the closure of Cape York to outsiders and this year’s event was abandoned as a result of strict COVID-19 rules.

Narrandera racing will feature one of the biggest prize purses outside of the major regional tracks in 2021 with three TAB meetings offering $365,000. Creation of Midway Races as part of prizemoney increases to $20 million
Racing NSW today announced prizemoney increases of some $20 million annually and the creation of a new $100,000 Midway Race to be added to metropolitan Saturday race meetings. This announcement is highlighted by almost $9 million of increases in prizemoney for country race meetings to be applied across all sectors of country racing including non-TAB and Picnic races.
