Leeton jockey Breanna Bourke booted home the winner of the Nutrien Ag Solutions Ardlethan Cup, Let’s Get Animal, for trainer Maddi Collins on Saturday.

This was her first ride back after 10 months on the sideline after having a fall.

She also steered home one of Riverina’s favourite race horses Benno’s Boy earlier in the day.

Breanna won the Samara Johnson Memorial Trophy for the winning jockey.

The five-year-old gelding Let’s Get Animal carried 66kg and paid $2.50 for the win.

He covered the 1600m in 1.35.38, with the last 600m in 37.95. It was a back-to-back win after storming home at Wagga over 1400m on March 9.

The Scott Spackman trained Cryfowl was ridden by Belinda Wright to second and three lengths away in third was Rheingau.

The dirt track was rated a firm 2 on the day.

Sun Master won the 1400m Three-Year-Old maiden plate in a time of 1.24.85 for Corowa trainer Rick Freyer and jockey R Blewitt.

Paying $2.25, the four-year-old gelding scored four lengths from the Neil Osborne trained Gold Gaselle while five lengths away in third was Coyote Ugly.

The 1200m Class B handicap was won by Madison Point ridden by Anaelle Gangotena and trained by Rob Potter.

Paying $1.40, the six-year-old gelding covered the distance in 1.11.39 with the Scott Spackman trained Tate was two lengths away in second and Zenyasa in third for trainer Rodger Waters.

Trainer Michelle Borserio took out the 1200m open trophy race with nine-year-old gelding Benno’s Boy ridden by Breanna Pitt and carrying 61.5kg.

Paying $2,70, Benno’s Boy covered the distance in 1.10.19 to beat Imitation Game, trained by Doug Gorrel, and five lengths away in third was Waldo Waldorf.

In the final race of the day, it was a tight finish for the Doug Gorrel trained Attuned to win the 1000m open trophy race with Zarsupreme second for trainer Ross Purcell and the John Tyack trained Sam half a length away in third.

Race club spokesperson Polly McDougall said more than 2000 racegoers attended the meeting to enjoy the racing and fashions on the field.

“We were lucky with the weather, just a bit of rain and wind but nothing too drastic,” she said.
