The annual Spirit of the Land festival made its return over the weekend making Lockhart a haven for sculptures and fine arts. The event opened early on Saturday the 7th and finished off on the following Sunday with stalls, galleries, exhibitions and sculptures galore to enjoy.

Visitors at the Narrandera Fisheries Centre Open Day this Saturday will have the opportunity to see first-hand the important work done at the facility to research, enhance and protect native fish and fisheries in NSW. Activities will include kids fishing, hatchery and aquaria tours, research displays and the chance to meet Agro the famous Murray Cod.

Narrandera-born footballer Matthew Flynn has now joined the West Coast Eagles after the completion of his move from Greater Western Sydney. The 26-year-old joins the Eagles as an unrestricted free agent, heading west on a three-year deal after the paperwork was formalised.

It is the author’s belief that Australia is not adequately prepared for upcoming bushfires.   To be frank, we as a society have learnt very little following 2019/20, especially in regards to bushfire mitigation. Communities, firefighters and the ecosystems are highly exposed over the coming El Nino period and a lot of bushfire skills have been lost.   Disaster and insurance costs are going up every year and will continue to go up with current adapted approaches.
