Stage 2 of Leeton’s Roxy Community Theatre Redevelopment Project will receive an $800K boost from Council’s Section 7.12 Developer Contributions, following endorsement at the Council’s June meeting on Tuesday. The request to source additional Council funding was made by the Roxy Project Management Office after the project did not make the Federal Government’s final cut for Growing Regions funding in May 2024.

The enquirer wanted to know details about the water tower itself. Marrocka Emu farm was first purchased as a vacant block of land in 1991 by its current owners Ian and Marilyn Marston.

Hay Magpies rugby league first grade squad played a gruelling match under lights against Griffith Black & Whites on Saturday night, posting the team’s first win for the Group 20 2024 season. Coach Ben Taylor directed the team in the grinding game, in wet and slippery conditions at Hay Park, and it was his goal kicking the difference, but was humble in his post-game wrap up.

Local landholder Bert Matthews has been elected to the Riverina Local Land Services board. Mr Matthews was the only candidate from the Hay region to stand in the recent election ... Following a significant rise in participation, 34 people across the state were elected to the 11 local boards ...

Work on the Bishop’ Lodge subdivision  has been completed at a cost of $405,000 and Council hopes to utilise the area to create affordable housing. General Manager, David Webb said many local councils were committing to specific mechanisms and actions to increase housing supply and housing affordability, such as affordable housing contribution schemes.  

A decision by an electricity network which covers more than 90 per cent of the state to phase out hardwood power poles in favour of composite poles made from resin and fibreglass has sparked community concerns amidst allegations the transition will increase power bills, further exacerbating financial pressures during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, as well as compromise the timber industry.

Clarence Valley ratepayers will be slugged 4.7 per cent more for residential rates and an extra 6 per cent for water access and consumption after a split 6 to 3 vote by Clarence Valley Councillors when they endorsed the 2024-2025 Fees and Charges.

Yamba Bowling Club played host to the 2023- 2024 BCiB State Open Gender Grade 6 Pennant Finals last week featuring bowlers from across the state. The club was thrilled to host the top 16 teams from around the state who competed for the prestigious title on the immaculate Yamba greens from June 28 to 30.
