Yamba Bowling Club played host to the 2023- 2024 BCiB State Open Gender Grade 6 Pennant Finals last week featuring bowlers from across the state.

The club was thrilled to host the top 16 teams from around the state who competed for the prestigious title on the immaculate Yamba greens from June 28 to 30.

Crowds of competitors and locals gathered at the club from the first round on Friday at 8.30am to watch the action and join in the fun.

The NSW State Pennant competition is the oldest event on the NSW Bowls calendar, beginning in the 1895-1896 season, with 7 grades of NSW Pennants played each year.

The clubs competing in the Grade 6 Pennant Finals at Yamba were Albion Park, Belfield, Blacktown Workers, Brooms Head, Canowindra, Coolamon, Greenless Park, Leichardt, Munmorah United, North Haven, Nowra, Scone, Soldiers Point, Tuncurry Beach, Uralla, and Warrawee.

The NSW Pennant sees 3 rinks of four players battle it out through Zone competitions to become Zone Champions and earn the right to play-off against their fellow Zone winners from across the state in NSW Grades 1 – 7 Pennant Finals each year.

The event was sponsored by BCiB Insurance Brokers and Yamba Bowling Club thanked Clarence Valley Council and My Clarence Valley for their vital support through council’s Sports Tourism Program.
