Serrated trailing edges have broken off wind turbines endangering CFA volunteers, farmers and livestock in the vicinity of the infrastructure. Member for Western Victoria, Bev McArthur raised this issue in the Parliament citing it as dangerous and reckless. “My question for the Minister for Agriculture concerns news that turbines at the brand new Golden Plains wind farm are falling to pieces."

Andrew Mole. More than seven years of hard work is about to go live after the long-awaited Barham micro abattoir last week passed its audit for poultry processing with flying colours. The rubber stamp from the NSW Department of Primary Industries means the facility is licensed and ready to operate.
Early market hits the target
The earlier than usual start to the series of Upper Murray Farmers Markets was well received with many locals and visitors getting out and about on Saturday morning. There was plenty of variety on offer with 17 stalls operating and the live entertainment provided by talented musician Riff added to the carnival atmosphere.

Australian table grape exports decline as Chinese demand wanes: Rabobank
Despite a good start, Australian table grape exports have declined for the 2024 season, off the back of lower demand from China, which has been consistently decreasing its imports, according to new industry research. In its just-released Table Grape Update 2024, agribusiness banking specialist Rabobank said Australian exports of table grapes were down 19 per cent for the 2024 season.

Audit reveals major gaps in government’s Basin Plan compliance: NFF
An independent audit into the Federal Government’s compliance with the Basin Plan 2012 and water resource plans has exposed significant shortcomings in its systems and processes, according to the National Farmers’ Federation. NFF Water Committee Chair Malcolm Holm said the audit into the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment, and Water's (DCCEEW) confirmed concerns about the Government’s ability to manage Basin resources effectively.

Confidence has returned to Australia’s farming sector following a mid-year dip in sentiment, as more favourable livestock markets and beneficial rain in some cropping areas fuel renewed optimism. Farmer installs flashing lights to warn traffic of cows crossing highway
Terry Toohey’s family have been dairy farmers at Woodview, west of Casino since 1901. Back then a busy Bruxner Highway didn’t cut through the green paddocks and cows didn’t have to risk being hit by a car or truck ... The chance of that happening again has been dramatically reduced with the installation of signs with flashing lights when the cows cross the road twice a day.
