Patient waiting times worrying
Public waiting times for life-saving treatments at regional hospitals like Naracoorte are “creating real anxieties.” That’s the word from Shadow Minister for Regional Health Services Penny Pratt, who says it is concerning that people are losing confidence in country health systems.
Creditors owed $350,000
Creditors of Naracoorte’s closed Morris Bakery are owed more than $350,000, and investigations confirm the company was not insured for employee dishonesty. New information ascertained by this newspaper [Naracoorte Community News] on the business’s liquidation process confirms that the company’s director has completed his report on “company activities and property,” which has been lodged with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.

Major land rezoning
Consultations on a major land rezoning application in the state’s South East will open in the coming months. The Wattle Range Council is applying to rezone ten parcels of land in the lower South East, specifically around the townships of Millicent, Penola, Beachport, and Glencoe. The areas under consideration have been identified in the council’s 25-year strategic land use plan to accommodate housing and employment growth as population surges in nearby major centres - Mount Gambier and Robe.

Barunga West Council retains Acknowledgement of Country
Michelle Daw. Nharranga Aboriginal Progress Association has welcomed the decision by Barunga West Council elected members to retain the Acknowledgement of Country. In a five to three majority, councillors voted against a motion by Cr David Eason to remove the Acknowledgement from all council meetings and events. NAPA chairperson Michael Wanganeen said he is pleased the motion was defeated.
Rate rage

More than 60 Yorke Peninsula primary producers concerned about next financial year’s rating model spilled out of the public gallery and into the foyer at a Yorke Peninsula Council workshop ... The attendees were mobilised by a Facebook post ... as explained at the workshop, council has no plans to double the rates paid by primary producers.
