Bernie among Masters best

Bernie McLoughlan, formerly of Wooroonook, has recently returned from representing Australia in the 2024 World Masters Athletics Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden. The brother of Wooroonook farmers Jeff and Leo McLoughlan, Bernie won a silver medal in the 6000m Cross Country team event with two other Australian runners in the M70-74 Age Group.

This Show ’n’ Shine lived up to its name

Buloke Collectable Vehicle Club annual Show 'n' Shine event brought together car enthusiasts from all over the region this past weekend, transforming the George Cartwright oval in Birchip into a dazzling display of automotive craftsmanship. With almost 150 vehicles on display, the event celebrated everything from classic cars to modern muscle, trucks and motorbikes, and it drew a diverse crowd of spectators and participants alike.

Bowls season opens

With a fresh coat of paint, the Maldon Bowls Club was looking spick and span last Sunday to celebrate the opening of the Pennant season. Bendigo West Member Maree Edwards was invited to send down the first ball, the Castlemaine Bowls Club was invited to enjoy a day of friendly competition and everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch.

New chief to lead energy transformation

The Member for Indi, Helen Haines, has welcomed the appointment by the Australian government of Tony Mahar to his new role as the new Australian Energy Infrastructure Commissioner ... "I have worked productively with Mr Mahar during his time as the CEO of the NFF on issues like sustainable agriculture facilitators, renewable energy and biosecurity levies," Dr Haines said.

Members of The Country Women's Association of Victoria Inc. (The CWA of Victoria) will be feeding hungry show-goers from their famous cafeteria at this year's Melbourne Royal Show. With 15,605 scones consumed in 2023, what will be the magic number be in 2024?  From cooked breakfasts and hearty lunches to enjoying sweet treats including slices, sponge cake and scones with jam and cream - all items are 'guilt free'...

ABC TV’s “Muster Dog” dog breeder wins the Yanac Yard Dog Trials

After a wild and cold week making setting up for the 29th Yanac Yard Dog Trial very difficult, last Saturday’s weather wasn’t as bad as forecast. With a few light showers and moderate wind, the event started at 7.30am with an egg and bacon breakfast and the Judges talk for the novice.

Year 10 work experience

During the last week of Term 4 Nhill College had their Year 10s out on Work Experience. Students were placed in Adelaide, Bordertown, Kaniva, Nhill, Rainbow, Horsham, Bendigo, Ballarat and Melbourne.
