ABC TV’s “Muster Dog” dog breeder wins the Yanac Yard Dog Trials

Recent stories

After a wild and cold week making setting up for the 29th Yanac Yard Dog Trial very difficult, last Saturday’s weather wasn’t as bad as forecast. With a few light showers and moderate wind, the event started at 7.30am with an egg and bacon breakfast and the Judges talk for the novice. Triallers travelled from all over Victoria and South East South Australia to participate. The novice section having 23 dogs entered. The winner was Sharon Barry with Gogetta Pardon on 180 points. 2nd place Steve Robinson with Barcoola Didge on 156 points and 3rd place Sharon Barry with Gogetta Spanky on 79 points.

The Encourage section was next with nine entries including one local Patricia Rideout. Martin Ryan was the winner with Mick on 90 points, Harrison Cooke with Brian on 87 points. Patricia Rideout third with River on 84 points.

The Open section commenced with the Judge’s talk and 20 dogs entered waiting for their turn. 6 Finals were ran and the winner of the day was Joe Spicer with Gogetta Clue with 180 points, 2nd place Adam James with Jindi Ja Ja on 155 points, 3rd place Herb Cooper with Darcoo Squirt on 151 points.

The day was fully catered by the Yanac Hockey Club, providing BBQ food and sweet treats throughout the event. A great effort by the local hockey club whose 3 teams played in grand finals the previous Saturday.

The day couldn’t happen without the support of many local business through sponsorships, so we thank R & K Williams Earthmoving, Dart Harvesting, Dart Properties, Horsham Wool, Rowe Partnership, W Schilling, Azza’s Tyres, AWN, Westech Ag, Kyle Livestock, Glendonald Stud.

Many locals helped set up and worked tirelessly throughout the day and were still there into the evening packing up. With thanks to the hardworkers and sponsors the day was a huge success.
