Flood recovery could have spread Red Fire Ants
As community concerns grow after a nest of imported Red Fire Ants were detected at Wardell on January 19, there are fears one of the world’s most destructive and invasive pest may have been spread to NSW from Queensland during recovery efforts from the devastating 2022 floods.
Groundbreaking ceremony for Warwick saleyards $7.5m project

58 new intern doctors commencing

Destructive pests caught in record numbers: Sunshine Coast Council
Invasive species are being trapped and removed in record numbers across the Sunshine Coast, in a united effort between Sunshine Coast Council and the community to protect our region’s biodiversity. In 2023, Council’s team removed 335 feral deer from registered properties in the region, almost triple the previous record set in 2021.

Goldfish racing returns
Last year the memory of Sophie Grace Patch was felt at the Get Chopped Pub in Greenmount through the holding of a goldfish racing event, which will again happen this year on Australia Day. Sophie, daughter of Todd and Tamara Patch of East Greenmount, tragically passed away in November 2022 at the young age of 11 months.
