Increased supply good news for consumers, but a challenge for Queensland growers. Sunshine Coast-based macadamia supplier Nutworks has revealed that macadamias are set to become more accessible for the average Australian, with increased supply of the premium product expected to lead to lower prices on supermarket shelves in the months ahead.

As our immediate community comes to terms with the Bendigo and Adelaide Banks’ decision to rip bank services from Barham, Cohuna and Pyramid Hill, three of 16 agency closures the Better Big Bank is implementing, the Finance Sector Union (FSU) is calling on the major banks to stop closing bank branches in metropolitan and regional areas while a Senate Inquiry into Regional Branch Closures is underway ... The FSU stated NAB refuses to acknowledge community concerns and has announced branches at Jeparit and Inverloch in Victoria will close. Branches at Boonah, Qld and Queanbeyan, NSW will also be shut down.

"When the House is Empty" is the working title of an upcoming community initiated feature movie being shot on location in Narrandera with the future intention of creating a small film school in the town ... It is the story of a young woman who resides in the city but inherits a house from her father in a small country town.

The Narrandera community turned out in big numbers to remember the service and sacrifice of veterans at Anzac Day services. Guest speaker at the main service in the Memorial Gardens is Squadron Leader Jorden Coggin, accompanied by catafalque leader Sgt Shannon Flannery.

A motion to rezone land at West Yamba not already subject to development applications from residential to conservation and rural status has been defeated, with many Clarence Valley Councillors indicating they want to wait for the latest flood modelling to be released before deciding on the issue ... Prior to the CVC meeting, councillors heard deputations supporting the rezoning from Greens MLC and Environmental Lawyer Sue Higginson, Lynne Cairns from Yamba CAN, Engineer Peter Maslen and Yamba Local Craigh McNeill.

Several times IndyNR.com contacted the RSPCA for comment about what was going on with the bison at the closed Aranyani Bison Adventure Tourist Park ... Once we had that confirmation on April 20, we reported the  deaths of bison  at Myrtle Creek.

Local band ‘Artifact’ based in Wagga Wagga have progressed onto the grand final of the Wacken Metal Battle. The competition sees metal bands from all over Australia and New Zealand compete to win a once in a lifetime chance of performing at the largest Metal Festival in the world, Wacken Open Air.

Well known author Maya Linnell visited Narrandera Library last week and called in to Mon Repos store to visit the owners Scott and Rebecca Rowlings. The reason she visited Rebecca and her husband Scott was because of Rebecca’s review of Paperbark Hill for Australian Rural and Regional News - Rebecca is a book reviewer for the online news site.
