The oldest lighthouse in South Australia is set to host the newest tourism destination on Kangaroo Island, with work commencing on the redesign and roll out of the Cape Willoughby visitor precinct.

Tennis SA  has launched a striking art mural at  Memorial Park Tennis Complex  in Bordertown  as part of a collaborative project with Tennis Australia which has seen the reimagining of hitting walls across the country, an initiative designed to increase community participation and engagement in tennis.

Gabrielle Duykers. In a world first, a Limestone Coast food manufacturer will convert oat husks into electricity, enabling it to offset almost all its monthly energy costs.  Cereal oat supplier Blue Lake Milling, located in Bordertown, completed construction of its $8.1 million biogas plant last week. Commercial projects manager Jeremy Neale said the plant would generate enough bioenergy to power both the plant and nearby homes.

Gabrielle Duykers. A “poignant” and “emotional” textile work has taken home the 2021 Tatiara Art Prize and is now on public display at Walkway Gallery. The winning work, ‘The Shortest Day of the Year', comes from artist Deborah Prior and tells the story of family connections as inspired by her grandmother. Made from vintage Australian woollen blankets, the beautifully crafted piece also represents the wool industry and its critical connection to regional and remote communities.

The 2021/22 Tennis SA State League season has been officially launched by the  Tennis SA State League All Stars  on the Eyre Peninsula ... The state’s highest level competition visited regional South Australia for the first time, with eight Tennis SA State League players joining six local tennis players to create Team Red and Team Blue.

Cleve Harvest Music Fest is the newest live music festival on the South Australian calendar, situated in the thriving Eyre Peninsula, agricultural town of Cleve.

South Australian Premier Steven Marshall has been presented with a ground-breaking opportunity for the State to work with the District Council of Tumby Bay on significantly refurbishing the Tumby Bay Jetty to benefit cruise ship tourism on Eyre Peninsula, as well as tourism and the community at large.

Two of South Australia’s provincial cup meetings will be boosted by a significant prizemoney increase for their feature races. Racing SA has today announced both the Gawler Cup and Strathalbyn Cup will benefit from substantial prizemoney lifts, effective immediately. The increase will bring them into line with both the Murray Bridge and Balaklava Cups.

The SA State Government’s latest Crop and Pasture Report indicates South Australian grain production is set for 7.98 million tonnes, close to the 10-year average of 8 million tonnes. SA Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development David Basham said South Australian farmers may be able to capitalise on unfavourable conditions in other world grain producing countries.

The 113th Cleve Annual Show will be held on Saturday October 16th ... There will be horse events, shearing, side shows and the Whyalla Car Club bringing 20 plus classic cars to be paraded before being displayed.

Jumping dogs? Yes, that's right, come along to see the jumping dogs (and their assistants) in fast and fearless competition at the Clare Show on 16 October. Plus a whole lot more including show bags, kids zone, garden hub, lego legends, fireworks and side shows.

Gabrielle Duykers. A Victorian kelpie has snagged the highest bid at South Australia's first working dog auction, selling for $29,000. On September 26, the inaugural Lucindale Working Dog Auction was held in Yakka Park and saw more than 400 people in attendance. Of the 30 kelpies up for grabs, two-and-a-half-year-old Josie took home the top sale price.  

Chris Oldfield. Australian Rare Earths Limited (AREL) has established a regional headquarters in Naracoorte as part of its plan to develop a rare earths operation in the area ... The next phase of exploration at Koppamurra is set to commence in October and will consist of further exploration activities, “to expand upon the previous shallow drilling program and will progress to include various studies and technical work, to help determine a development concept”.  

The McKenna family behind Midfield Meat Group has acquired the Wanderribby feedlot and grazing and farming property in South Australia, four years after the vendors initially put the asset to the market with hopes of as much as $10 million. South Australia’s third-largest feedlot, the 2,311-hectare Wanderribby has been used as a custom feedyard, feeding for three main clients, including at times Coles and Woolworths supermarket contracts, and the yard utilised in the past as a live export depot.

A large dryland cropping farm on Eyre Peninsula in South Australia has entered the market after being held by one family for four generations. Telusa, the 988-hectare property, is located in the Cleve Hills, 21km north of Cleve and 164km north east of Port Lincoln and has been in the current owners family since the early 1900s.
