Farmers finding solutions to ease labour shortages: ABARES
Labour shortages in the horticulture sector have eased slightly, according to a report from the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES). ABARES executive director Dr Jared Greenville said the report, based on a survey of over 2,000 horticulture farms across Australia, showed a fall in the number of farms struggling to find workers.

A new, rights-based Aged Care Act was the number one recommendation of the Royal Commission into aged care ... The Western Australia Police Force advise that metropolitan police districts provide the community with a 24 hour per day, 365 days per year policing response.
Legislative reform to support First Nations economic empowerment: Chalmers, McCarthy
The Albanese Labor Government has introduced legislation to expand the role and remit of Indigenous Business Australia (IBA), as part of the Future Made in Australia (Production Tax Credit and Other Measures) Bill 2024. The Bill amends legislation to allow IBA to borrow and raise capital, boosting its ability to invest in First Nations businesses and communities.
Lismore lays the foundation for a world-class skatepark
An important milestone in constructing Lismore’s new $3.9 million Lismore Skatepark was reached this week, with the pouring of 2400m2 of concrete set to begin ... The facility includes both ‘street’ and ‘park’ (bowl) sections and a covered mini ramp, which is eagerly anticipated by the local skater community.
Aged care reforms passes parliament: Neumann
The Albanese Labor Government’s Aged Care Bill has today passed Parliament, ensuring once-in-a-generation reforms to aged care ... Starting from 1 July 2025, the new Act will deliver a range of improvements including a tougher regulatory model, strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and a Statement of Rights to ensure older people and their needs are at the centre of the new aged care system.
Sunshine Coast selected for new subsea cable landing point

Australia Connect will deliver new subsea cable systems and build on the Pacific Connect initiative.

Kadina boys light up Adelaide 500
Kadina’s Alex Larwood and Tate Cowie etched their names in Supercross and wingless sprint car history, after the duo competed for the first time at the VAILO Adelaide 500, held November 14 to 16. Larwood competed in the SX2 class (motocross), while Cowie was in his wingless spring car.

Completing the first full round of North Central Playing Area’s 2024-’25 pennant fixture, Division 1 leaders, Wedderburn and Donald Golf, confirmed their rankings with comfortable wins over St. Arnaud Country Club and Boort respectively … St. Arnaud Country Club remains outside of the top four, while cross town rival, St. Arnaud, which demolished Donald by 68 shots, strengthened its grip on third place.

Specific ‘forever chemical’ found at unexpected levels in firefighting foam: UNSW Sydney
A new study has revealed there may be a significant underestimation of a specific type of  PFAS ‘forever chemical’ in the environment. Researchers from UNSW Sydney found that branched perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) was more prevalent than expected in firefighting foam.
