The Kaniva District Hospital Ladies Auxiliary marked their 100th Anniversary on Wednesday, 22nd May at 2 pm in the Kaniva Hospital Day Centre on Farmers Street.
The event featured an afternoon tea and welcomed past members and representatives from the West Wimmera Health Service.
Chair Katherine Colbert expressed gratitude for the Auxiliary’s century-long support and highlighted its importance to the Kaniva community.
She looked forward to the Auxiliary’s future contributions.
Jenny Wallis provided a brief history of the Auxiliary’s activities over the past 100 years.
Joyce McFarlane along with Joy Alexander had the honour of cutting the celebratory cake.
West Wimmera Shire Councillor Bruce Meyer also gave a historical overview.
Current President Jenny Wallis thanked the West Wimmera Health Service for their assistance with the celebrations, including catering.
Special thanks were given to Taryn Carter for making the cake and Gemma Hill for providing the balloons.
Ritchie Dodds, CEO of West Wimmera Health Service, acknowledged the volunteers and noted the fitting timing of the celebration during Volunteer Week.
The event featured a display of dolls donated by Linda Stephens, who for 35 years made and donated dolls to be raffled, raising vital funds for the Kaniva hospital.
