Shaun Ossinger. Regional Development Minister Alanah MacTiernan has announced a grant of about $35,000 to help colonise winter-active dung beetles in the Wilson Inlet catchment. Part of the natural ecosystem of cattle, dung beetles have evolved alongside the animal throughout Europe and Africa, breaking down cattle dung and recycling nutrients.

Ross Dwyer. Denmark Baroque and the Darlington String Quartet presented a classical concert at the Civic Centre on October 22 to a delighted audience. Musical director Georg Corall conducted from the harpsichord excerpts from the Fairy Queen by Henry Purcell. In the second half of the evening, the Darlington String Quartet performed the Bell Birds Suite by Emma Jayakumara and Tchaikovsky’s quartet number one in D Major.

A new app developed by the Pilbara Tourism Association with support from the McGowan Government is helping self-drive tourists to explore Western Australia's vast and beautiful Pilbara region. The Warlu Way, named after a spirit snake featured in Pilbara creation stories, provides four routes between Exmouth and Broome, taking in the Pilbara's major tourism attractions on sealed and unsealed roads.

The  Abrolhos Island and Mid-West Scallop Trawl Fishery  has achieved certification to the  MSC fisheries standard. It is the first scallop fishery in Australia and the eleventh fishery in Western Australia (WA) to gain this certification.

The McGowan Government is enhancing WA's program of shark mitigation measures in the lead up to summer, with the Shark Warning System now automated to alert beachgoers to the presence of a tagged shark in the vicinity.

Primewest has snapped up the Northgate Geraldton Shopping Centre in Western Australia for $71.2 million, forming a new single-asset, unlisted wholesale property fund. The Centuria Capital Group subsidiary secured the asset, which is the dominant shopping centre in the area, with 15,758sqm of GLA within the 336,845sqm site.

The town’s anniversary celebration attracted a big crowd, who were able to enjoy billy cart racing, entertainment by Renee’s Dance Group, history displays, rubber duck racing, rocket making as well as horse and cart rides.

Sand at Yanchep Lagoon beach contains small pieces of broken glass with some pieces measuring 5mm to 13mm. Some of it is clear glass but there are also blue and shades of green and brown pieces in the sand ... the City of Wanneroo said the sand contamination issue was quickly detected and the beach and beach access points were closed for public safety.
