Farmers targeted amid surging wave of brazen copper crime: TasFarmers

Tasmanian Farmers continue to be a target for thieves, with increasing reports of centre pivots being stripped of copper, from Northern Tasmania and the Southern Midlands. Ian Sauer President of TasFarmers said, the peak body has previously raised concerns about copper thefts from irrigation equipment in the Northern Midlands, however thieves are becoming more brazen, and the wave of crime is escalating.

Community input reflected in the preferred easement for VNI West: TCV

Transmission Company Victoria (TCV) today released the preferred easement for the Victorian section of the VNI West transmission project ... The process to refine the initial 50km wide area of interest to a 2km draft corridor and now a 70m preferred easement has been shaped by 18 months of consultation with communities and individual landholders, along with field studies and technical and engineering assessments.

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has completed a timber testing trial investigating the best ways to implement technologies verifying claims of species and harvest origin of regulated timber and timber products ... True Howard Springs ‘wear and tear’ cost revealed: Yan

...$12.7 million of taxpayers’ money was spent operating the Howard Springs Accommodation Village for two months to cater for flood evacuees last year. The total bill for cleaning and repairs was $1.3 million for the two-month period in March and April last year.
