Getting Ready for ANZAC Day 2026

Recent stories

Last weekend, members of the Nhill RSL Sub-Branch, Nhill Lions Club and the Lowan Lodge spent a busy afternoon erecting a great many of the Australian flags at the gravestones of military persons who had served in conflicts across the world.

Mrs Jenny Blackwood is to be congratulated on her rigorous research as well as those who have made suitable the boring of holes for the Australian flags.

Due to the hard work of those committed to this worthy project both on ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day in November, the Nhill Cemetery is a sight that stirs the blood of both young and old. During the next few days leading up to ANZAC Day school children from the three Nhill schools will be actively participating by placing smaller Australian Flags throughout the Lawn Cemetery area.

Please take a drive and take in the amazing display in the Nhill Cemetery. Last year, an aged veteran viewed the area and with a tear in her eye “This reminds me so much of the day World War 2 was declared over. So many Australian flags everywhere. It was a wonderful sight,” she said. “These flags symbolise what we were proud to fight under.”
