Recent stories

The BAAKA Board is very pleased to announce the appointment of Liane Wendt as the new Executive Director of the BAAKA Cultural & Arts Centre.

Liane comes to Wilcannia from Derby in Western Australia, where she led the Mowanjum Arts and Cultural Centre.

Her strong background and over ten years’ experience working with remote and regional Indigenous art and cultural organisations across Australia makes her a great fit for the BAAKA Centre.

In the coming months, she’ll begin looking for local staff who will help run the Centre every day and make sure it reflects Wilcannia’s culture, creativity and community spirit.

Liane will be working closely with the local community and artists to help shape a space that celebrates culture, shares stories and creates real opportunities for the people of Wilcannia.

The Board are excited to welcome Liane to the region and look forward to the positive impact her leadership will bring as the Centre.
