Local star athlete Georgia Foster has sprinted her way to an incredible triumph at the Colgate North Island Games in New Zealand, bringing home not one, not two, but three gold medals! Competing in the Under 15 category, Georgia dominated the track, taking first place in both the 100m and 200m, and delivering a stellar performance as the anchor for the victorious 4x100m female relay team.
Selected as part of the Victorian team of 36 talented athletes, Georgia travelled across the Tasman to represent her state with pride. Accompanying the Victorian contingent was the Tasmanian team, comprising 12 athletes, making it a proud showing for Australia on the international stage.
The competition kicked off with a training session and a celebratory team march during the opening ceremony on Thursday.
What followed was a gruelling three days of competition in challenging wet and windy conditions—conditions unfamiliar to the Victorian athletes, with headwinds adding an extra layer of difficulty.
But Georgia’s determination and skill shone through, proving unbeatable on the track.
With the events now wrapped up, Georgia is enjoying a well-earned break, spending a few days exploring the sights of New Zealand before returning home with her team.
Congratulations to Georgia on her outstanding achievements— you’ve made your community and state proud!
