Torrential rain and powerful winds wreak havoc in the district

Recent stories

Last Wednesday saw a mammoth amount of rainfall and winds across the district including Yanac, Diapur and Boyeo.

Brett Wheaton at Yanac South measured 86mm and said there was a lot of flooding, including Yanac Creek and the swamp was filled.

Kim Croot said, “We had just a quick 62mm at home and 77mm where the header was in 45 minutes.”

Shaun Smith tipped out 49mm at Boyeo.

Nhill SES Incident Controller Des Smith said, “With storms last week, we attended to several trees that had fallen over on the Nhill Yanac Road.

There was 49mm of rain recorded with flash flooding and a shed lost in a mini tornado.”
