Last week, 13 students from seven remote schools represented the Barkly in the NT Athletics Championships in Darwin.

The students participated in a variety of running, jumping, and throwing events over three days along with athletes from other regions and athletic clubs across the territory.

The Barkly students performed exceptionally well and won 8 golds, 6 silvers, and 7 bronzes, securing the 2nd place overall in the championship.

This is the best result that the Barkly Region has achieved in the last 10 years when competing in this event.

Due to the fires around Tennant Creek, the students had to stay in Darwin for a few extra days.

However, they had a fun-filled week visiting various places and getting a chance to explore more of Darwin.

All the students returned home safely on Friday.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sherryn Guilford, Terry Mac Erlean (Mr. Mac), and Dillon for taking care of the students throughout the carnival and the additional days in Darwin.
