The 2024 Territory Election election period officially began today with the issuance of the writ authorising the NT Electoral Commission (NTEC) to oversee the electoral proceedings in accordance with the Electoral Act 2004.
Nominations for candidates in the upcoming election are officially opened and will remain open until 12 noon on Thursday, August 8, for both party-affiliated and independent candidates.
So far there are only two candidates for the Barkly, CLP’s incumbent Member Steve Edgington and Labor’s Lizzie Hogan.
Candidate nomination forms are readily available on the NTEC website.
The electoral roll for the 2024 Territory Election is slated to close today at 5pm.
NT Electoral Commissioner Kirsten Kelly emphasised the importance of your verifying enrolment status before the approaching deadline to ensure eligibility to vote in the upcoming election.
Territorians are encouraged to cross-verify and update their enrolment details online via the Australian Electoral Commission or NTEC websites.
Noteworthy dates for early voting and mobile polling services for the 2024 Territory Election are set to commence on Monday 12 August, leading up to the main event on Saturday 24 August.
