Educate Ewe rejoins the mob

Recent stories

It’s back to school after the Easter break and Educate Ewe is set to rejoin her friends on the Sheep Art Trail.

“Congratulations to all the students who created a whole new design for her.

Sheep Art continues to provide a great opportunity to our local community to participate in a nationally promoted public arts project which seeks to embody the principles surrounding public art design,” said KDPA’s Helen Hobbs.

“The strength of the trail is the community participation and the way that the trail encompasses the community groups and town features.” “The sheep was primarily painted by the Year 9 and 10 Art and Visual Communication classes, but students from other art classes also had an opportunity to contribute,” explained visual communications teacher Jen Tuckwell.

“The design, which incorporates many aspects of our school programs, was collaboratively designed by Jye Barker, Laila Ansell, Shelby Kids and Mia Coad.

They started this process with a trip around town to get inspiration from the other sheep.

They then brainstormed ideas that are unique to our school, which they wanted to include.” The design features the uniform and Auslan program, plus the school’s individual elements of the Quest program, kitchen garden, and the giant pencils at the school.

The sheep will be placed at the Band Park in the coming weeks and replace the old design from the original mob thanks to Kaniva and District Progress Association and a small grant for restoration and repair from Australian Galleries and Museums.
