The White Cliffs Power Station is the first commercially operated solar thermal power station in NSW and one of the earliest of its kind in the world.
According to the media release from the Central Darling Shire Council (CDSC), the power station is an important asset for the community of White Cliffs. It is a popular tourist attraction and “tourism is an important economic driver for our small communities.”
The Heritage Council of NSW is thinking about putting the power station on the State Heritage register. Council supports this move. Anyone in the community is invited to have a say about the idea. It needs to be in writing. Opinions need to be in by 8th May 2026. haveyoursay.nsw.gov.au/white-cliffs
The CDSC makes special mention of the White Cliffs Solar Thermal Power Station Friends Inc who put in work to preserve the site.Â
