Baaka Cultural Centre
The Baaka Cultural and Art Centre
Baaka, our new Cultural and Art Centre, looks wonderful! All of us who've been on guided tours inside it are excited about what it will mean for Paakantji people, the town of Wilcannia and our whole region.
Baaka Cultural Centre completed?
The building has been open for public viewing on a couple of occasions but not well advertised. The Architect, David Kaunitz visited Wilcannia recently with a professional photographer, and has kindly sent us some good photos including inside views.
Baaka Cultural Centre progressing well
Central Darling Shire Council has received a project update on the Baaka Cultural Centre. The development of the $9.5 million Baaka Cultural Centre at Wilcannia is a regionally significant project. It is being funded by the Australian and NSW governments.
A long-awaited start for the Baaka Cultural Centre
Bob Constantine. It was wonderful to see the Chairwoman of the Baaka Corporation, Rhonda (Lee) Hynch celebrate the Ground-breaking Ceremony on the site of the future Baaka Cultural Centre. I thought it a memorable occasion for all citizens of Wilcannia ... The Aboriginal owned and operated centre provides the opportunity to revitalise Baakantji culture, create jobs and boost tourism.
