DMD Nhill Cup, Boxing Day, Thursday 26th December

The annual Boxing Day DMD Nhill Cup is set to take place once again and the scene is set for it to be one of the biggest yet.

The Nhill & District Racing Club have catered for everyone with Col Williams who will keep everyone entertained off the track. Col Williams will play in between races and also after the races for racegoers to enjoy.

The Luv-A-Duck Fashions on the Field are back with categories including Classic Lady of the Day, Young Contemporary of the Day, Teen of the Day, Gent of the Day, Best Dressed Couple, Best Millinery of the day and Junior Categories with some terrific prizes to be won including a Pan Pacific Accommodation voucher valued at over $300 each.

For the kids, Kelly Sports supervised kid’s activities will be on track handing out Free kid’s merchandise packs. A face painter will also be in attendance on race day and the kids can keep cool with slushies on offer.

A free town courtesy bus will operate to and from the racecourse to provide patrons with safe transport options to the races. The bus will depart the Farmers Arms Hotel at 12pm & hourly until 3pm. Returning to the Farmers Arms after the last race.

Early Bird General Admission is $20 per person or $25 on race day. Kids under 17 years old are Free with an accompanying paying adult. Both card and cash payments will be accepted at the ticket booth and bar.

Chipper’s Hot Spot is back this year. After each race a spot prize will be awarded for those that are located in the predetermined ‘hot spots’. Racegoers that find themselves in the hot spot will win a prize and be announced on race day by MC Jason ‘Chipper’ Gordon.

Last year’s feature event, the $30,000 DND Nhill Cup was taken out by the Patrick Payne trained Pearl Rain who was ridden by Alana Kelly, making it her third Nhill Cup win.

Nhill & District Racing Club Chairman Bruce Beacom acknowledged the sponsors and dedicated Committee members that help put together the community event each and every year.
