The Griffith region was the major corn (maize) producer in Australia in 2022-2023, according to data recently released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
The region supplied 80,000 tonne of corn.
A total of 387,000 tonne of corn was sold across the nation in that period, with a price tag of $161 million.
After the Griffith region, the neighbouring Tocumwal-Finley-Jerilderie region was the nation’s second-biggest producer of corn on 45,000 tonne.
The Hay region produced $1.21 million worth of maize produced in 2022-23.
The ABS figures detailed the top 10 production areas for Australia’s summer crops in 2022-23, as well as other industry figures, such as planted area, commodity value and number of growers.
