A man has been charged by the local police for involvement in illegal drug activities in the Tennant Creek region.
Detectives, with the help of other police units, executed a search warrant at a remote property on Monday and Tuesday.
They found a significant amount of cannabis concealed in the nearby scrub land and inside the residence, along with a substantial sum of cash.
A drug detection dog named Callen assisted in locating a commercial quantity of cannabis buried under spinifex bushes in the surrounding area.
In total, approximately 3.6kg of cannabis was seized.
The 47-year-old man arrested during the search was charged with serious drug offenses, including the supply and possession of a commercial quantity of a Schedule 2 dangerous drug, as well as receiving or possessing tainted property.
He was denied bail and appeared in the Alice Springs local court yesterday.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Marcus Becker emphasised the harm caused by the supply of dangerous drugs in remote areas of the Northern Territory and stated that the police will continue to target individuals involved in this illicit activity.
If anyone has information regarding the supply of illicit substances into our communities, they can contact the police on 131 444 or make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Â
