Tennant Creek police arrested a man in connection with a serious domestic violence incident in Tennant Creek last week.
The incident occurred around 8pm last Wednesday, where a woman was assaulted with a broken bottle at a local service station between Williams Street and the Stuart Highway.
The victim was rushed to Tennant Creek Hospital with serious facial injuries.
The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.
Detectives from the Tennant Creek Criminal Investigations Unit launched an investigation, executing two search warrants in coordination with Tennant Creek general duties officers.
The man, aged 29, was later apprehended and charged with unlawfully causing serious harm and being armed with an offensive weapon.
He has been remanded to appear before Tennant Creek Local Court yesterday.
Constable First Class Caleb Van Duinen said the incident was a particularly violent assault that left the victim with severe injuries.
“Such violence has no place in our community, and police will continue to work tirelessly to hold domestic violence offenders accountable,” he said.
