For the last eight weeks, women from Tennant Creek have been honing their AFL skills.

Due to demand, players are now training twice a week on Mondays at 5pm and Fridays at 6pm, with the biggest turn out to date on Monday.

All players are keen to be prepared for Saturday’s inaugural game.

This is a very exciting time for women’s AFL in the Barkly they currently have 20 women registered to play, however more players are welcome and lack of experience is no bar to joining in.

There are players who have never seen a game of football before and players who have won premierships.

The one thing everyone on the field has in common is that they are there to have fun playing footy.

If you are interested in having a go, head on down to one of our training sessions.

You can also join the Facebook Group or give the women a follow on Instagram to keep up to date with the latest information.
