Could cotton be grown around Allora?

Recent stories

We are now seeing cotton being grown at Nobby and in the Lockyer Valley so is cotton a crop for the future?

These questions could be answered at the 2025 Cotton Collective event to be held in Toowoomba from 5 to 7 August.

Cotton Australia General Manager Michael Murray says this year’s Cotton Collective is only the second in six years after COVID forced changes in 2021, leading to the staging of a hugely successful follow-up Collective in 2023.

“The people in the cotton industry work hard year-round and when they have an opportunity to come together, socialise, swap stories, hear about the latest developments in research and development, and see the latest technology, they usually jump at the chance.”

The event involves a bus tour on the first day, full day conference on the second culminating in the 2025 Cotton Industry Awards Dinner, and a third Collective day with events and presentations, all central to the interests of cotton growers and the industry.

A cotton crop was grown on farming land at Nobby this season.

Sessions to be conducted include:

  • Megatrends and the Australian Cotton Industry
  • Has the Basin Plan been worth the Pain and What is Next?
  • Growing a Successful Family Farm Business
  • Beyond the Farm Gate – Australian Cotton in the Wider World
  • Practical Tech on the Farm (Drone spraying)
  • New Product demonstrations
  • Research insights and updates.

Tickets are now on sale for the biggest Australian cotton event for 2025. Bookings can be made at events.humanitix.com/2025-cotton-collective-collection
