During Nhill Fire Brigade’s changeover event held last week, we welcomed a new Brigade Management Team. This team will support the running of the brigade for the next 2 years. Captain – Brendan Moylan, First Lieutenant – Will Lynch, Second Lieutenant – Joel Borgelt, Third Lieutenant – Jeremy Borgelt, Fourth Lieutenant – Agostinho Pereira, Secretary – Annie Gebert and Treasurer – Catherine Ryan. Our new BMT brings a wealth of experience and fresh ideas and we are looking forward to what they will bring to the Brigade, and future growth opportunities.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to Rob Schneider for his efforts as Captain over the past 6 years. He has shown great leadership over his time as Captain, particularly during the pandemic and most recently, the Little Desert Bushfires. Thank you, Rob.
We also thank outgoing Brigade Management Team members Kylie Merrett and Hayley Merrett and wish them all the best moving forward. Thank you!
Last night, we held our Bi-Annual Dinner, where several members were acknowledged for their many years of dedicated service. Medals were handed out to the following members: 60 years Mal Pye, 55 years John Slattery, 45 years Peter Riordan, 25 years Joel Borgelt, 20 years Jeremy Borgelt, Julie McDonald, Brendan Moylan and Catherine Ryan,15 years Dylan Merrett, 10 years Tom McPeake, Hayley Merrett and Kylie Merrett, 5 years Luke Keiler and Tamika Merrett.
VFBV Brigade Life Memberships are awarded to any members with 20 years of active service, and last night we were honoured to award Life Membership to Jeremy Borgelt and Trevor Schwarz.
The brigade would like to extend our gratitude to Nhill Bowls Club for providing the venue, and Karyn McCartney and her team for creating an amazing 3-course meal for us to enjoy.
