RSM Club buys the Clydesdale Steakhouse as part of its future plans

Recent stories

The Casino RSM Club announced its plans to refurbish the Royal Hotel and to buy the Clydesdale Motel and Steakhouse and the former Sil Gava commercial site on Walker Street.

The club’s expansion plans were shared with club members at a recent forum.

RSM board president Brad Birney said because of the tightening regulations around gambling, the board was diversifying its revenue.

Mr Birney said the club would continue to financially support charities, community groups and local sports clubs including its major sponsorship of the Cougars, Bulls, Cobras and Cavaliers.

Chief executive John Walker said the club’s foray into new business ventures was an exciting new chapter.

The future plans include:

  • The $3.5million ground floor refurbishment of the Royal Hotel building in Casino. The refurbishment will include a cafeteria, sports bar, corner bar, gaming room and upgrade to the beer garden and motel rooms.
  • About $1million of renovations are planned for the RSM Club premises.
  • The undercover bowling green at the RSM will be expanded. At a minimum it will be a half-green but could evolve into a full rink.
  • The acquisition of the former Sil Gava site on Walker Street marks another strategic investment within the Casino CBD with the club anticipating substantial population growth in Casino over the next decade.
  • The purchase of the Clydesdale Motel and Steakhouse.

The Casino RSM Club bought the Royal Hotel in 2019. It is a short 50m walk from the club.
