Local theatre group brings you love, lust and greed with Fanny’s Knickers

Recent stories

Ten people have got together to bring you Fanny’s Knickers.

Most of the 10 have never acted before yet decided to join the Village Players to perform the slapstick, period melodrama three times at Club Evans.

The amateur theatre group Village Players began in 2003.

And it’s been a long time between plays.

Broadwater resident Jo Boucher helps run the theatre group and said their last play was The Cemetery Club in 2019.

Then covid, floods, and flood recovery halted the group’s performances.

Now they’re back.

“I’m playing Granny in the play,” Jo said.

“And my husband is directing it.”

Many of the new actors are from the Evans Village retirement village.

“We’ve been blessed to get 10,” Jo said.

“The main character – the vicar – is from Evans Village,”

The group has been rehearsing and is ready to perform at Club Evans. Pre-show tickets are $15 and tickets on the night at the door are $20 if not sold out.

Fanny’s Knickers is on:

  • Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6: doors open 8pm, show starts 8.30pm
  • Sunday, April 7: doors open 2pm, show starts 2.30pm

Tickets can be bought at Club Evans reception. There are no online purchases.
