Lap swimmers, aerobic mermaids and happy families alike are all extremely grateful to two local legends, Sally and Kerryn, who answered the call out to train as lifeguards. Both undertook a lifeguard training course last year to help overcome the shortage of staff suffered by all swimming pools last season, and which resulted in our Maldon pool having to close some days each week.
It’s been fantastic to have these two very friendly Maldonians working at our very own pool this summer season. “It’s been a great opportunity to get to know the local people,” said Kerryn, and “It’s been a fantastic way to contribute to my community,” said Sally. Both have thoroughly enjoyed the work and have gained lots of new skills and experiences. Thank you very much, Sally and Kerryn; you’ve done a wonderful job!
This summer’s season ends on the Labour Day Holiday on Monday 13 March, so don’t forget to provide some valuable feedback to Mt. Alexander Shire and the YMCA by filling out the annual pool survey (available online (MASC website) and hardcopies at the pool kiosk). Let’s tell them how good our lifeguards have been this year. And please consider becoming a Lifeguard for your community next summer.
