Stratum at EDGE galleries

Recent stories

A new exhibition by Greg Mallon is showing at EDGE galleries until Monday, March 13. Greg’s works resemble maps of the land. He uses a mix of mediums and styles, including photographs, stencilling, etching, layers of paper, printmaking and digital imagery.

This series of work came about during a particularly grim winter in 2020 and 2021 and the Pandemic, Greg says. He began to experiment with new works on his computer, using a vast archive of photographs, sketches and maps and incorporating satellite and drone photographs.

He uses a mix of colours in each piece, some bold reds and oranges, in others earth tones to purples and blues.

Greg’s unique works have been acquired by collectors, luxury hotels, public galleries, universities and government departments for over three decades. He has exhibited throughout Australian capitals, Europe and Hong Kong. He has participated in over 40 solo and 80 group exhibitions.

In recent years Greg has been awarded three artist residencies in Barcelona (2011), Venice (2013) and Chiang Mai (2017). He was a finalist in 12 national art awards, and in 2021, he won the landscape award in the inaugural National Capital Art Prize in Canberra.

Greg holds a Master’s Degree in Art (majoring in painting) from the University of New South Wales as well as an Associate Diploma in Fine Art (majoring in printmaking) from the Queensland College of Art and a Post Graduate Diploma in Art Education from the Queensland University of Technology.

All works are available for purchase. The gallery is open on weekends or by appointment on weekdays by calling Brad on 0418 105 954 or Simon on 0400 337 301.
