Tennant Creek was fortunate this year to have two events celebrating International Women’s Day, with the second one being held in the Peace Garden at the Women’s Refuge on Tuesday evening.
Refuge staff had worked very hard to set up for the evening, and the Peace Garden was a welcoming place as people arrived.
Beginning with guest speakers, Barb Shaw, Senator Malandirri McCarthy and Deputy Mayor Dianne Stokes, the evening was a celebration of women with the sharing of music, dancing, food, stories and poetry.
