But this is what Kadina man Scott Martin achieved on Saturday, May 13, when he won the Irrational SOUTH 100 Miler through the Flinders Ranges.
Paws up for puppy program
Michelle Daw. About 50 people showed their interest in helping to nurture the guide dogs of the future when they took part in a puppy raising seminar in Moonta this month. The event was held by Guide Dogs SA/ NT at the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia Copper Coast sub branch ... It is the first time the puppy raising program has been extended beyond metropolitan Adelaide.

Chuffed with J’s return home!
The excitement was getting a little too much at times. Not only for the team at Victorian Goldfields Railway (VGR) but also for locomotive J549 (J) ... And last Saturday at 12.30pm, an excited driver Paul McDonald brought J home to Maldon, with around 90 passengers equally excited to be part of the ‘chuff-chuff, woo-wooo’ journey.
600 greyhounds and still going strong
Sparrow the greyhound took all the fuss in her stride last Thursday when she was feted as the 600th greyhound to graduate from the Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) at Tarrengower Prison ... The program works like this: four retired racing greyhounds are delivered to Tarrengower and four women are given the responsibility of training each dog over a four week period ... "You have to remember that these dogs have never been inside a house..."

Dhelkaya Health has made history by welcoming the very first baby born via a planned caesarean through their midwifery group practice model. Eloise and Peter welcomed their daughter Asta Nicole Batten into the world via planned caesarean on 16 April.
Red dirt to reef for water warriors
The 2024 Variety Victoria Bash will kick off in August with cars 25 years or older piloted by teams raising money for Victorian children living with disabilities, illnesses, or experiencing disadvantage. A local team of Water Warriors is taking a 1988 Nissan GQ Patrol on the journey from Swan Hill to Airlie Beach ... Doug hopes the trip will be a great chance to raise funds for the kids and also give them an opportunity to highlight the current water issues on the way.
Emergency Services Open Day a success
Around 400 people gathered on the day to watch live demonstrations and displays of vehicles and equipment ... All of Narrandera’s emergency services were present, including the SES, the Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA), Fire and Rescue NSW, the Rural Fire Service (RFS), Police Force and the Rapid Relief Team.
History made on $1.2 billion new Bundaberg Hospital project: Miles, Dick, Grace, Fentiman
The Miles Government has made a landmark investment of $1.2 billion towards a new Bundaberg Hospital which will transform healthcare for patients, carers and staff for generations to come ... The new hospital will have more than 400 beds, including 320 overnight beds, expanded emergency department, additional operating theatres and a wider range of outpatient and diagnostic services.

Serena Kirby. Denmark's newest painting group is encouraging artists to step outside and embrace the great outdoors. Taking its name from the French word for ‘out-of-doors’ the ‘plein air’ painters group is the brainchild of Kat Lamb who started the group two months ago.
