Barham & District Medical Centre, our community owned facility, will transition to a new management team in the coming weeks.

The Executive Committee of Local Health Medical Trust (LHMT) met with the Kingston Village Super Clinic team on Friday morning to discuss details and assist with their smooth transition into the Barham-Koondrook community.

Dr Tharindu Uyanage and Dr Chandrashekhar Harlapur are excited to be taking on this new challenge and look forward to growing the practice here in Barham. They will both work closely with the local team, and while being based in Geelong, they will be onsite regularly.

The Barham team will be capably led by Dr Chameera Akurugoda, Dr Anusha Fernando and Practice Manager Kerri Hird. Recruitment is underway for a new full-time GP to add to the team and provide much needed support to our local GPs and increase capacity at the practice.

The Kingston Village Super Clinic management team will bring a passion for teaching, clinical governance and above all genuine intention to patient wellbeing and safety.

Maree Telford, Chair of the LHMT Board, would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding during the appointment process. “We are thrilled to welcome Tharindu, Shekhar and the KVSC team. They have worked closely with the Trust Executive Committee to understand what our community needs and how they can deliver this. We look forward to working with them to ensure that our community is well cared for moving forward.”

The LHMT would like to thank Ochre for the past 15 years of service to the area and appreciate their support and guidance throughout the selection process.
