Big shows are back at the Brolga Theatre

The Brolga Theatre in Maryborough is getting back to normal with the first sold out performance since COVID-19 emerged and a bumper line up of big name shows over the next few months ... “One of Australia’s favourite comedians, Carl Barron, will have a full house in stitches next Tuesday night (23 March) when he brings his new show ‘Skating Rink for Flies’ to the Brolga stage,” Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said.

In his studio at Eden Creek, Brett Hamlyn turns “chords into a fully mastered product”. The producer spent 15 years touring with bands and now at Deva Studios, he helps musicians develop their songs. “He’s the best,” singer songwriter Wendy Ford said. “He has a great sense of melody.”

A strong friendship, a lasting legacy and a prize to inspire and recognise artists – the Diana Keir Art Award is much more than another accolade in South Australia’s art world ... Diana's friend Alexandra McCarthy wanted to honour Diana’s memory by establishing the Diana Keir Art Award. The prize for this year’s Exhibition is $5000. It will double to $10,000 for the 2023 Exhibition.

March@TRAG – Sharing the Vision: Marion Bolton and the Lindsay Collection

A tribute to Marion Bolton and her vital role, alongside her husband W.R.F. (Bill) Bolton, in establishing the Lionel Lindsay Gallery and Library Collection in 1959. The Lindsay Collection has been housed at Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery since 1994. Exhibition on display 20 March - 11 July.

At the official announcement last Wednesday, Mr Gulaptis said Gwendolyn had also donated artwork for auction for fundraising events, including the local bushfire appeal, and donated her time to schools and the community with teaching and lecturing of art.

New Rosedale murals praise firefighters, add colour and fun

Rosedale is no stranger to bushfire. In 2019, a summer blaze to the south of the pastoral Wellington Shire town saw over 12,000 hectares lost. Its economy took a hit and it left a tangible impact on the people of the area. But the town is bouncing back and local artists Sue Coppock and Shane Priestley have recently completed murals in the central Prince Street Reserve that form part of Rosedale’s Bushfire Recovery Project.
