At the Toowoomba Royal Show on Saturday afternoon, judges selected the entrant who will represent the Darling Downs at the State judging during this year’s Ekka in Brisbane.
The winner is Bridgette Langton, who is the Goombungee-Haden Showgirl for 2026.
Bridgette is a Corporal in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and is based at Amberley, however she maintains a close contact with Goombungee, which is her home town.
During the final judging on Saturday afternoon, Bridgette said she has a particular interest in mental health.
“It’s okay not to be okay,” she told the assembled crowd.
Bridgette said just being there for somebody is important.
She also stressed the need for younger people to be encouraged to give their ideas on what is needed at agricultural shows.
“It will be their show in the future,” she said.
The runner-up in the Showgirl judging is Tara Show Society representative Lucy Gore.
The 2026 Darling Downs Ambassador was also judged on Saturday.
This year’s winner is Angus Cronin, who was representing the Jandowae Show Society.
The runner-up is Oakey Show Ambassador Abby Dwight-Nowland.
